There's nothing like the arrival of love to heighten your fashion scents...

When it comes to both love and fashion, the intensity can cause you to be head over heels. Which is what I was when my box from Nine West arrived, packed with my review bottle of their newly-released Love Fury Eau de Parfum AND a pair of their upcoming Love Fury Satin Pumps!

The fragrance comes bottled as a shoe lover's fantasy; a black cap that has the illusion of a stiletto piercing through a beautiful beveled-edge glass bottle. Genius! And if that's not enough to get you to swoon, the fragrance is a seductive floral, fruity and woodsy blend. And ideal for your Valentine's Day signature scent.

As for the shoes; the shoes! The 3/4" platforms are the perfect LBPs (little black pumps) for skinny jeans or swanky dresses. The pointy toes are a nice change from my usual almond toe, and for a nice switch, I plan on dressing mine up with shoe clips for dressier events. And the 4.5" heels are THE exclamation point to a chic little ensemble I have, consisting of a pair of chandelier earrings and this chiffon frock:

This Valentine's Day, might I suggest investing in an SOS Soy Candle; a chameleon of candles that also happen to be body safe, free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, animal products or animal testing. When I was shipped a sample of their scent Lueur Mon Amour for review, it certainly lit my curiosity.

And if you have to ask why a candle is body safe, you REALLY need to get one, so its name "glow my love" won't get lost in the translation. But to cue you in on several of its benefits, an SOS candle can be used cold as an emollient lotion or as a silky massage oil when warmed. Or you can just use it the old-fashioned way and light it for the scent.

I wanted to test it out as a massage oil, and my FH was more than a willing participant. After enjoying a candle-lit bubble bath, I allowed the candle to cool down, and then proceeded to massage the cucumber and melon-scented molten mix of aloe vera oil, apricot oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and Vitamin E oil all over his skin...

I'm officially into the countdown for looking my best from head to toe for my wedding. The FH and I are successfully dining on fresh vegetables, upping our water intake and blocking out the chatter of sweet tooth temptations (okay, so I weakened and baked a sweet potato pie at midnight, but I'm only human).

And while I know the soles of my wedding shoes will be dipped in Tiffany Blue, I'm still torn on what nail color to wear (L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish, "I Will" is a contender). But at least I know that the regimen to get my nail beds in tip-shop shape will be ARCH Nail Oil.

From the growing line of products by podiatric surgeon and shoe lover Dr. Krista Archer, I was shipped a bottle of ARCH Nail Oil for review. It is 98% natural, made with tea tree (a natural anti-fungal) and chocked with essential oils, shea butter and nut, coconut and jojoba oils to protect and nourish nails before, after, and in between pedicures.

But the best news about the oil was discovered when she responded to one of my tweets about my FH being a diabetic; according to Dr. Archer, diabetics can prevent wintertime heel fissures that could lead to infection by layering ARCH Oil & Creme.

Meaning both he and I will be well-heeled on our wedding day.

It's no secret that I love me some heels. But even the most dedicated stiletto lover needs to have an emergency backup from wuthering heights.

I have received my share of pitches from PR companies representing foldable flats, and to be quite honest most were underwhelming. One pair I received weren't even worthy of a review, as they gave me discomfort when walking (literally feeling the sidewalk when I walked in them). So imagine my relief when Butterfly Twists - the UK-based line of foldable flats AND boots - shipped me a pair of their studded Elizabeths for review.

BTs not only have a sole made from Thermoplastic Elastomer, which supplies comfort when worn, but a latex heel cushion. The stud detailing makes them both fashionable and functional. And most importantly, they can be whipped out at the first sign of heel distress, complete with a portable drawstring pouch to store in your purse.

When it's all said and done, I will always choose heels. But in the times I need to come off my highness, my BTs will switch me from 130mms to flats in 60 seconds.

If there was ever a bona fide test of a product, it was Friday the 13th's 4-inch winter whiteout, accessorized with a blanket of 35mph winds.

When I received a sample of pair of Save Your Sole 100% lambswool insoles for review, the weather was more conducive to an early April day, so I reluctantly waited for appropriate temperatures. Made from 100% lambswool, the insoles are customizable to fit in any pair of your shoes, sneakers or boots you decide on.

With Mother Nature slapping me into reality yesterday, I did what most throughout the East coast did; layered up and braced myself. As the future hubby and I experienced a slippery ride to buy groceries, my toes were snug as a bug with the lambswool insoles placed inside of my däv rain boots.

After kissing him off to work, I proceeded to test the limits of the insoles with the dreaded task of shoveling. Donning my thermal underwear-insulated outfit - DKNY puffer (birthday) jacket, cable knit leggings and trapper hat - I braved the 4-degree wind chill, scarf unraveling from my face, thanks to the audacity of the brisk winds. My only weather wardrobe meltdown was my gloves, because the insoles kept my feet warm. And anyone who lives in sub-zero winters will tell you, your feet and your head HAVE to stay protected.

The end result? Save Your Sole lambswool insoles are weather-tested; Stiletto-Intellectual-approved. As for my shoveling, it got as far as the front pathway, porch and back stairs. The driveway was left for the FH, as I need to save my hands for my other talents...

As many of us are dashing about, making lists and checking them twice, it's a busy season of partying, cooking and survival of the fittest. Not to mention a pretty beating on the soles of our feet.

When the makers of Sole Food Foot Cream shipped me a jar for review, I was more than happy to try it out during the holidaze.

Opening the jar, I was expecting to get a whiff of the usual fragrances associated with foot cream. So I need to state that floral or peppermint, it's not. As the site touts that it is of pharmaceutical quality, without a prescription...

Sulfur 8 hair grease was the first scent that came to mind when I opened the 4.25oz jar. In other words, it's a workhorse for your pedicure regimen; not meant to be girly. Even more importantly, Sole Food Cream contains no mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerin, lanolin or lanolin derivatives, fragrance or colors. Instead, the cream is made of a laundry list of ingredients that include menthol, which is the reason it beckoned memories of my childhood days being doused in Sulfur 8.

The benefits outweigh the scent, however, because the denseness of the cream results in moisturizing without greasiness. That alone is good news for us who do not want to leave a trail of footprints.

In essence, Sole Food Foot Cream is worthy of adding to your pedi regimen. Use it for soothing, moisturizing dry skin and deodorizing the feet of the man in your life (it's also anti-fungal, which stops the possibility of athletes foot and foot odor).

Now that makes for a soleful holiday!

Every now and then, we all need to take a walk on the wild side. And in my unconventional life, the simple process of holiday decorating easily falls prey to the phenomenon.

Needless to say, I was excited when the folks at Papyrus - the online destination for all things greeting cards, stationery, gift wrap, ribbon, and gifts - shipped me their Animal Print Duo Wrapping Paper for review. The foil-embossed cheetah and tiger prints are the cat's meow!

This season seems to be bringing a harvest of writing and editing. Just yesterday I received an inquiry from an aspiring writer asking for help with their first book. Which means if I'll be spending more time at a desk, it might as well be from the comfort of my own corner office.

So when the online boutique of must-have desk accessories and office supplies called My Pretty Office shipped me a pencil cup for review, it was a clear sign that my days were not only getting busier, but prettier! And I love their slogan, "Work Never Looked So Good!™"

I was pleasantly surprised when the package arrived; a complimentary pen and mini spiral notepad, all tied up in a pretty bow, had me feeling prettier right away. Playing footsie may not be a spectator sport, but for those participating in it, negative experiences can scar you for life.

When the maker of Sole Savour Foot Creme shipped me a sample for review, it sounded like the perfect way to maintain the softness that is usually robbed by winter dryness. And the fact that it's void of parabens, sulfates, synthetics and dyes makes it even more desirable for those of us who are conscious of not only what goes in our bodies, but what goes on it.

Created by former marathon runner (and current pedicure lover and podiatric surgeon), Dr. Krista A. Archer is also a fellow Stiletto Intellectual. Truly a woman who knows that fashion can sometimes do damage to our soles. Sole Savour Foot Creme is the first product in Dr. Archer's ARCH line.

But seeing how my FH was pulled over for speeding, sick all week with a scratchy throat and head cold - a Mercury Retrograde type of a week - I decided to cater to him with the creme first. After soaking his feet in a pedicure bomb foot bath, I massaged Sole Savour Foot Creme onto his tired feet.

The scent is light and airy, and definitely useable by both men and women. The air pump produces streams of the creme, proving that less is indeed more. But his reaction to the application was priceless: "This is nice and soothing; it feels and smells reeeeally good." I actually had to contain a giggle when I saw how his toes were curling!

Ahem; let's just say if I didn't already have the ring, using Sole Savour Foot Creme would have turned this into an engagement pedi! Needless to say, Sole Savour is man-approved...

My FH got out of the his speeding ticket with a warning, but now since his soles have been softened, hopefully he'll have less of a lead foot.

In 2008, Smith decided to make his dream of being a footwear designer a reality by enrolling at the International Academy of Design and Technology. Since graduating in July of 2011, Smith has been freelancing and working on his talent. He loves every aspect of the fashion world and the creativity it exudes in the footwear scene. Six months from now, I'll be stepping into the shoes of a newly-married woman. Seeing that I have never been one to dream of the circus-like antics that usually are synonymous with wedding planning (long train, short tempers and way too many bridesmaids), my big day will be a simple and private affair, ending with my pedicured toes digging into some beach sand.

I leave certain jobs to the experts: bathroom renovations, 5K runs, root canals. And rarely do I have the nerve to indulge in DIY beauty maintenance (the thought of my hair turning a vivid shade of a Skittle keeps me running to the salon for color).

But when I was shipped the Anastasia Beauty Express Kit to review, I figured if she was good enough to create Lady O's arches, the kit was definitely worth a DIY try.

If eyebrows are supposed to drape the eyes, I have been living a life with sheers. With subtle and fine brows, I left it up to monthly trips to the salon or book signing events to have definition. Other than that, they are wisps of a statement, as seen below:

The Anastasia Beauty Express Kit consists of brow wax cream, 5 stencils (to choose from to match your natural arch), 2 shades of brow powder, two shades of eye shadow and 1 angled brush applicator. With shades specifically for brunettes, the lighter brow powder shade did nothing against my skin tone, so I opted for the darker shade. The instructions are easy breezy: the detailed stencils show where to align against your face, with marked points matching the center of your eye.

Due to the smaller frame of my face, I chose the Petite Arch stencil. The entire application was rather elementary: apply the eye wax to the eyebrow area, place the stencil over it, fill in the cutout with the powder using the angled brush, remove stencil and pluck the hairs around the defined arch with your personal tweezers.

Here is the end result:

Once completed, I think I should have chosen a fuller stencil. But unlike a bathroom renovation, I can always redo it at no extravagant cost...

The future hubby and I made out our Thanksgiving menu the other night to include a union of lifelong family recipes: his father's dressing and my grandmother's macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. With it being one of many "firsts" for us, it will also be a first in our tag team cuisine, namely with the anticipation of him dusting off his never-before-used turkey fryer. I'm praying it will be a Gene Kelly/Ginger Rogers seamless tango versus a Lucy/Ricky episode.

While I haven't figured out what frock I'll be wearing, I do know what will be wrapped around it, thanks to the gracious folks at Lesruba Weddings, who shipped me a He Put A Ring On It Apron from their bridal apron collection. Available in white, yellow and khaki, the cotton-poly twill blend apron has an adjustable slide at the neck and ample waist ties for making a pretty little bow.

Aside from the 24" length, what I really like about the apron is the three deep pockets, which provide convenient compartments for utensils or paper towels for quick wipe-ups.

Thanksgiving will be a memorable day that consists of the Dallas Cowboys game, breaking bread, celebrating our nest and engaging in family traditions while making our own. For better or for worse, I'm making sure the fire extinguisher is only a step away.

TWHS Review: Nine West Abalene Platform Loafers

I have put some impressive mileage on a pair of my black heeled loafers. Being both fashionable and functional, they have provided me with a classic look while providing subtle flair. So imagine my glee when I was contacted by Nine West to "test-strut" a pair of their loafers for review.

I chose the Abalene dark brown crocodile platform from their collection of loafers and oxfords. With a 4.5'' stacked heel and 1'' platform, they provide just as much comfort as my broken-in black loafers. Which is crucial for someone whose life is known to go from zero to sixty in a blink of an eye.

Aside from being the perfect footwear when I wear my skinny jeans, cropped wool jacket or yellow trench, they accent my copper beaded lace skirt to perfection! I applaud the fact that Kim Kardashian not only had three wedding gowns to slip into, but she also had three pairs of wedding shoes, as well. As far as I'm concerned, a bride can never have too many shoes-

To use, you simply apply to your feet wherever shoes would come in contact that could cause chafing. As the above pic shows, my FH takes great interest in seeing that my comfort is in his hands.
